NEIGHBORWORKS AWARDS BRAND NEW DAY, INC. $100K FOR COMMUNITY STABILIZATION PROJECTS

NeighborWorks® America awarded a $100K Community Stabilization Grant to Brand New Day, Inc. The grant announced on September 7, 2011 was part of $3.65 million in expansion grant funding awarded to NeighborWorks® and other local members of the NeighborWorks network by NeighborWorks® America,  

Through the expansion grant, Brand New Day will develop affordable multifamily and owner-occupied homes for low- and moderate-income residents, work to develop the local economies in this region, and bring much-needed services to the residents, such as: financial education, homebuyer education, foreclosure intervention counseling, and other resident services. “Instead of starting from scratch, the expansion grants enable NeighborWorks organizations like Brand New Day to broaden their reach and bring already established services and best practices into underserved communities,” said Eileen Fitzgerald, CEO of NeighborWorks® America.

The expansion grants are truly an efficient use of funding for the nonprofit industry to provide operational support to NeighborWorks® organizations engaged in eligible community stabilization activities that support eligible community stabilization projects. Eligible community stabilization projects are those that will result in vacant, abandoned, or foreclosed properties being returned to productive use. 

This grant opportunity will enable organizations like Brand New Day to meet their mission to revitalize, stabilize and enhance the quality of life for low to moderate income individuals, youth and families through the development, management and preservation of affordable housing, to expand wealth creation opportunities through homeownership, promoting neighborhood based education, economic development and advocacy for social equality in the State of New Jersey.

Brand New Day, Inc. is a non for profit HUD approved, NeighborWorks Home Ownership Center.  Brand New Day provides a full menu of mortgage education and counseling programs including first time homeownership, foreclosure prevention/intervention, loan modification, financial wellness, credit counseling and money management.
