Brand New Day Breaks Ground on Condominium Project

In October of 2010 Brand New Day, Inc, held the groundbreaking for the 217-219 First St. condominium project and the project was named the “Russell C. Block Condominiums in honor of our long time pioneer and founding board member on the eve of his 80th birthday. This spring Brand New Day, Inc. will begin the gut rehabilitation of an abandoned building in the E’Port community of Elizabeth, NJ into six condominiums for low-and-moderate income homebuyers located at 217-219 First St. The project will create six units of for-sale housing targeted to first-time homebuyers whose income is 80% of the median income for Union County. Amenities for each unit will include hardwood flooring, central air conditioning, two full baths, designated storage area, lounge/activity room, and a parking lot for owners. The units will be sold to income-eligible, first-time homebuyers who have completed financial fitness education, homebuyer education and credit counseling from Brand New Day Inc.’s Home Ownership Center. Also, as a HUD-certified counseling agency, we offer one-on-one counseling for home purchase and credit issues.
