Foreclosure Prevention

There are so many options to help you avoid foreclosure, and your counselor will guide you through that process with support and compassion. Our Counselors can help you apply for loan modifications which reduce your monthly payment and bring your mortgage current. You may also apply through the Center to participate in court mediation to work out a plan with your lender. You may be eligible for financial assistance from the State of NJ to bring your loan current, or a one-time payment of up to from your local municipality. Our counselors will aid you in applying for and leveraging these funds.

Foreclosure Prevention Counseling

Encompasses pre-foreclosure education and counseling, where participants are taught to manage their money during home ownership, how and when to refinance, and how and when to contact their mortgage or loan servicing company.

Foreclosure Intervention Services

Provides emergency assistance with contacting lenders and negotiating for loan modification, forbearances, short sales, and deed-in lieu programs for participants already in foreclosure. Participants are also provided with credit counseling and financial fitness education to help them manage their finances for continued homeownership. Participants who feel they have been victims of predatory lending are referred to the Attorney General and to agencies that assist with emergency refinance and rescue funds for fraud victims.
