2010 Neighborhood Excellence Initiative Award

  Bank of America is proud to honor its 2010 Neighborhood Builders, Local Heroes and Student Leaders and Volunteer Service Awardees who contribute each day to making New Jersey a better place for all to live and work.
   Bank of America shares a commitment to strengthen communities. In New Jersey and in 44 other markets across the United States and London, Bank of America celebrates community leadership and service through the Neighborhood Excellence Initiative, its signature philanthropic program. Since the program’s inception in 2004, Bank of America has committed more than $110 million to support nearly 600 outstanding nonprofit organizations and nearly 3,000 individuals and students, including more than $3 million in New Jersey.

  In recognition of their commitment and leadership in the New Jersey community, Bank of America awarded its 2010 Neighborhood Builders Award to Brand New Day, Inc. and Ironbound Community Corporation. Each organization will receive $200,000 in unrestricted funding over the next two years and the opportunity for their Executive Directors and an emerging leader from each organization to participate in a strategic leadership development program.

   For 25 years, Brand New Day has carried out their mission by assisting resident-led initiatives resulting in growth in economic assets including housing and jobs for low-income residents, as well as attracting programs for youth development like YouthBuild to the City of Elizabeth.
