Affordable for sale housingBrand New Day completed a gut rehabilitation of seven 2- and 3-bedroom houses on Magnolia Avenue in 1996. The homes were sold to low-income first time homebuyers for $36,000. In 2003 Brand New Day purchased an abandoned home at substantial discount from the estate of a longtime community resident. We built a new two-family house at the site, 304 Court Street, and sold it in 2005, to a family living in overcrowded conditions for $100,000 below market value. We are currently building a new single-family, four-bedroom house at 108 South Park Street that we will sell to a first-time, low-income homebuyer for $201,250. We are also building a condominium building at 144-152 First Street with eight two- and three-bedroom apartments. The purchasers are low- and moderate-income first-time homebuyers who will pay between $56,500 and $148,750 for their units. We are in the predevelopment stages of building another six three-bedroom, two-bathroom condominium units at 217-219 First Street that will be sold to low- and moderate-income first time homebuyers. We are selling an existing single-family house at 88 Fourth Street. We have made some minor improvements to the house and are selling it for below market rate.
